Into the Dark
Session 0

Kardenau Sector, home of countless lives dedicated to the great Imperium of Man. Sitting on the edge of Imperial space few would consider it the most dangerous post in the Imperium. Alien raids are rare and the only real dangerous claim comes from pirates and the very nature of warp travel. The space at its borders is vast and empty as if it was the very edge of the galaxy or so some have thought.

After countless years of trying to find anything within reach on the borders of the sector, Lord-Captain Nuvas found what many had tried to find before. He reported that an entire sector worth of individuals that had once belonged to the Imperium had been cut off and stranded. Though where this location was it seemed at the time was never recorded. Ten years prior all communication with Lord-Captain Nuvas ended and all hope for discovering more about where he went was lost.

Ten years later James R. Donovan III for actions taken upon his previous vessel caught the eye of Inquisitor Lord Siresh Tinset at a most opportune time. The vessel Icarus had recently lost her crew and with it the life of the Rogue Trader that commanded her. Due to the design of the Warrant of Trade Inquisitor Lord Siresh Tinset utilized his right from the original wording of the Warrant to offer it and the vessel to James R. Donovan III with two stipulations and a surprise. The Inquisitor Lord had the last known location of Lord-Captain Nuvas.

The first stipulation requested of the new Lord-Captain was that he, if able and it is safe to do so, should attempt to locate or find out what happened to the lost Lord-Captain Nuvas.

The second stipulation came with the order to search out and explore the new sector. All information gained was requested to be sent back to him.

Edition 2: The Long Wait for a Post

Day 60:

The Icarus and her crew have found themselves in the Tian Sector, or so others call it. After exploring a small segment of the system they found a planet that is suitable to be colonized. After a conflict that lasted for nearly two months, the Icarus managed in the end to defeat a band of raiders that landed on the planet.

Though with everything the raiders turned out to be apart of a much larger force called the Sincant that is inhabiting a nearby system. After defeating a witch, as well as a demon, it is confirmed that the raiders have heavy ties to Chaos. From the mouth of a captive the crew learned of a supposed group of forty five vessels, mostly Raider sized, that is operating from a space station three systems away.

Edition 3: Heresy

The planet of Melvas Prime has started to be cataloged and recorded. From pictures of animals to the life of the oceans and the resources they all contain, steady progress has been made in discovering the riches the planet might hold for the new crew of the Icarus.

The threats that reside planet side seem to be few at the moment. No sign of the last Witch and the Sincant in the mountains have been dealt with. The greatest threat since the battle for the city has come from a twisted unnatural swamp in the middle of the continent. Inside the depths of the jungle resided a small base and a device that would appear to have created an opening to the warp. From this opening the land about the base became twisted and infested with unnatural life or perhaps the natural life simply took a new form. Though this threat has been neutralized or so it might appear at first.

There is Life Out There

The planet has been secured for now and progress is being made rapidly on the planet to catalog what is there. The first signs of construct have begun as a the ground has begun to be broke to make way for the main settlement.

In space the Icarus has started a journey to investigate the asteroid belt on the opposite side of the system. Rumor has it that the remnants of ships that defended the colony had been lured out to the fare side of the system by raider attacks. On the way there the Icarus crew ran into an established trader in the area. A rather large ork who seemed to desire to trade more than fight. After a long conversation goods were exchanged and the two parted ways with a promise to meet again.
